People often wonder what a "true" American brandy is, or even a true American spirit in general is.  When we think of a "true" spirit, we think of something that not only originates in the U.S. but also uses the methods and the ingredients for that spirit.  


Brandy is a distilled spirit made out of fruit whereas a whiskey is made out of a grain, typically Corn, Rye, Barley, or Wheat. As you look back on the history of America you will see that George Washington made apple brandy around 1797 - 1799 and his General, General Laird (of Laird's Apple Jack) started making apple jack which is still around today.


For our apple brandy, we resurrected a part of Northwest Arkansas' history. In Bentonville, Arkansas there was an apple & fruit brandy distillery called Macon & Carson Apple Brandy Distillery that was operated from 1893 to 1914 and was at one point the "largest apple brandy distillery west of the Mississippi River".  The distillery produced 215,000 gallons of Apple Brandy a year and there are photographs that show wagons full of apples lining up for miles for a chance to sell their apples to the distillery.  


When we resurrected a part of history we wanted to do so in a "true" crafted manner.  Our apple brandy is produced solely from Ozark plateau apples and aged in Arkansas White Oak barrels charred to our specifications.  We wanted to produce an apple brandy that taste more like a bourbon, but has very subtle hints of apple.  There are no additives, artificial sweeteners, or coloring added to our spirits.
